Being part of a Community – LJMU has around 23,000 students all of whom are members of Liverpool Students' Union; you are now a part of this student community which is incredibly diverse. People of different ages, races, countries and backgrounds will travel to study at LJMU. This presents a unique opportunity as you are unlikely to live and work alongside such a diverse group of people again with whom you have something in common. Make the most of this opportunity and leave the student community richer for it – start a student group, vote in the union elections and make sure your voice is heard to improve the student experience now and in the future. Making change – Being part of a 23,000 strong organisation means real change is possible. You have the support of our members, all of which are united by one common theme; achieving the best education, if students will not take a stand to improve things that matter to them who will? We provide the channels for you to have your voice heard via course reps and through our forums (Better Union, Better University and Better City) which campaign for positive change for students. Benefits – We offer a range of membership benefits including our representative structures, student officers, course reps and forums all campaigning to make positive change for our students as well as the social benefits including clubs, sports teams, Give It A Go trips, bars, cafes, shops and the NUS Extra card most of which are offered at a fraction of the cost that non-students would pay. In addition, all of our members have access to free professional advice on a range of areas from academic issues to welfare and housing.
