Liverpool Town Takeover

In 2009, as part of the Liverpool Town Takeover, students from five universities across Merseyside united to campaign for a fairer funding system for higher education. Students from Edge Hill, Hope University, The University of Liverpool, John Moores University and The University of Chester descended on the city to draw attention to this debate in Liverpool. The event attracted hundreds of students dressed in green who gathered at St George's Hall for a rally with the, then, National Union of Students' President, Wes Streeting, and Vice President HE, Aaron Porter. The event was the first Town Takeover and is often referred to as the best of the lot.

Green, helium-filled, balloons were let loose into the skies at the end of the rally before a large amount of those involved left for the Town Hall to take part in a panel debate on Higher Education.
