
Students may wish to withdraw for a wide range of reasons including not feeling their course is right for them or that they do not wish to continue with education at the current time. Students taking this option are no longer students from the date of withdrawal.
Students wishing to withdraw should write to their School stating that they wish to withdraw from the course. The letter should also include the last date of attendance at University. You should also hand your student card into the School office. This letter should also state that you wish any outstanding tuition fees to be returned.
If you have withdrawn from your course you should write and inform your LEA, the SLC or other funding body. The Students' Union Advice Centre staff can assist you with this.
The first 60 days of absence from a course due to illness should not affect a student's entitlement to student loan payments. After 60 days an institution can notify the Student Loan Company however the hardship caused would have to be taken into account in this decision. (but continued funding is at the discretion of the LEA) If your absence is for berievment then it is also at the discretion of the LEA. Evidence is necessary in all cases. If this applies to you it is important to seek advice on your options.
