This document defines the policy towards the use of information you provide when you register online on your student Union website.
You may choose only to register with the Union or to register both with the Union and with the Student Alert service, a text messaging and email marketing service provided through oncampusuk Ltd. All information is held at all times in databases on servers controlled by oncampusuk
, which provides Internet communication services to your Union. The oncampusuk policy is aimed at ensuring the security of your information and that is it used strictly in accordance with both the Data Protection Act 1998 and with your own wishes.
Once you have registered for either student registration purposes only or for the combined registration/Student Alert Service you can at any time review and modify your information online. When you register you will be asked to create your own username and password. If you at any time wish to modify your information or to be removed from the database or the Student Alert service, all you need to do is log in using your username and password and make the necessary change to your information. Your information will be automatically updated.
When you register you may be asked for some personal information, including name, address, mobile telephone number and email address. This information will only be stored on oncampusuk databases for use only by your Union. The Union may use this information to contact you but will not use it for any commercial purposes without your prior written consent. No third party, including oncampusuk, has any right of access to this information for commercial purposes.
By registering for the Student Alert Service you authorise us to send you carefully selected third party offers, student deals and promotions. The information you provide will be used to select those offers and promotions that will be of most interest to you. By providing your personal information to the Student Alert service you agree to the collection, storage and processing of your personal information by oncampusuk as described in this Privacy Statement. This information is held securely in the strictest confidence and is the subject of comprehensive privacy control.
Your Students' Union has approved this Privacy Statement for the services being offered.
oncampusuk or your Union will never make available your personal information (sell, rent or otherwise) to any third party without your prior written consent, unless required to do so by law. All messages are sent through our own databases. Your information is never provided to third parties through our databases or in any other form. Student Alert will only provide grouped statistics and demographics to our clients. oncampusuk and your Union do everything possible to ensure that third parties are unable to extract your personal information.
If, however, as a result of a message, you create an independent communication with the third party on whose behalf oncampusuk has sent the message, then the privacy policy of that third party shall be instituted. This Privacy Statement does not apply in those situations.
oncampusuk is registered under the Data Protection Act 1998 (Registration Number Z7126946) and has provided details of the information held in its databases and its uses to the Information Commissioner.
