Liverpool Students Union (LSU) is the independent body representing students at Liverpool John Moores University. It offers a wide variety of services and activities for its members. It runs campaigns throughout the year, from raising awareness of health issues to helping students secure improvements to their student experience whilst at University.
The Union is entirely run by students who have been elected by their fellow students. Every decision about what events to put on, what activities to fund and what issues to campaign on is made by student representatives. While we have an excellent relationship with the University, it is the students at Liverpool John Moores who are our highest priority and all of the services provided by the Union are for them.
Beyond representation, there are many different sports, clubs and activities to get involved in which receive funding and staff support from the Union. A wide variety of different interests are covered by our clubs but if you find something you are interested in isn't then the Union will provide you with the help you need to get it started.
LSU is spilt up into 3 sites: the Haigh Building, Byrom Street Campus and IM Marsh Campus. The Haigh Building is the main City Centre venue, it has three main social areas:
THE COOLER: a bar and nightclub venue where you can enjoy exciting entertainment. We have diverse music including Indie, Funky House and cheesy chart pop. Look out for our quality drinks promotions!
You can chill out in THE SANCTUARY - the perfect refuge away from the stresses of academic life. The Sanctuary boasts a large range of Fair Trade coffees, teas, hot chocolate and luxury sandwiches.
SCHOLARS serves a large variety of beers, wines and spirits from around the globe – all at student prices, so you don’t have to be out of pocket to enjoy yourself. There are 2 big screens that allow us to broadcast simultaneous football matches. It has 4 pool tables, games machines, quizzes and regular karaoke
GREENSHIELDS BAR at IM Marsh, L.S.U runs the bar up here and also the student shop. The bar is a popular spot at our Aigburth site with our students living on and off-campus. The bar has a big screen for live football games and there is also the Friday night ‘disco’! Doreen’s always there to help!
BYROM STREET provides our students with an excellent shop with a great range of sandwiches, magazines, cold drinks etc.
THE STUDENTS’ SHOPS sell everything from newspapers to stationery, sandwiches to snacks.
In the Haigh building you will find our independent student ADVICE CENTRE where our fully trained staff can offer guidance and representation on a number of issues. Should you encounter problems with your fees, student loans, assignments or your landlord, the Advice Centre should be at the top of your list.
Don’t miss our Me Space areas - our newly launched computer areas on the first and second floors of the Haigh Building. Whether you are involved in a Students Union activity or just need a free computer to finish an assignment, you’ll be welcome to use any of the 8 free computer spaces.
