Research Degrees Committee
This is the main University group with responsibility for quality assurance of all postgraduate research degree programmes (MPhil and PhD). It agrees policy and makes decisions on the progression of individual students. Your representation is needed for this first part of the meeting, usually lasting 1.5 hrs. This is the committee most strongly in need of student representation.
Ethics Committee
This group considers applications for ethical approval for research involving human subjects, which covers a wide range of methods from questionnaire based research to training and exercise, and blood samples.
Faculty Research Committees
There is one in each Faculty, sometimes delegating graduate student business to a sub-committee. Some Faculties may already have a rep, though this will be 1 or 2 out of 6.
